At Jacksonville, I was on a mission to get footage good enough to make an edit. Although I thought the same thing when I went to Oakland a few weeks ago and all I ended up doing was a few raw footage videos. I was determined to step it up and try to get some better stuff this week. I had two riders in mind that I definitely wanted to try talking with while I was there, Wilson and Barcia. I’d spent the entire day telling myself to go up to them and introduce myself. I already knew Barcia a little but had never talked with Dean face-to-face. It wasn’t until the main events were about to get going that I finally went over to the PC rig. I had more doubt than anything that Dean-O would be around, but luckily enough, he was sitting there doing some last minute relaxing. I almost felt like an idiot asking to shoot a quick interview, but I had to at least try. When I introduced myself, he recognized my name and said it was no problem. Whether or not he was just pretending, I don’t know, nor do I care. Because either way, maybe he will next time. It was cool though, I was pumped he recognized the name and thought it was cool he was willing to give me a minute right before heading to the line.Barcia was the other rider on the list. There is a story in its own about this interview in which I’ve already written about in the previous post, "Amateur Hour". But it was cool meeting up with Justin. After absolutely killing it in the main, he was texting from inside the rig saying he’d be out in a few. I waited there amongst the crowd of fans and everyone else trying to shoot an interview. Barcia killed it in Jacksonville and so he earned himself plenty of time in this video. Other riders that were up for talking to the camera a little were Lemoin and Wharton. I made sure to meet up with Lemoin for two reasons. Not only was he rocking one of the sickest mullets around, I’ve liked watching him ride since the early amateur days. So here’s the video, check it out:
