Curtain Closer

Last week after winning at Indy, Villopoto seemed like he had the championship wrapped up.   This week, he didn't even make it into the main.  His heat race didn't go so well for him and his LCQ somehow went even worse.  It was definitely Stewart's night to make the championship his but within 9 seconds of the gate dropping, he was down and out.  I don't know much about his injury or anything at this point, and if you want to read about his crash you can go on Racer X or Transworld or something.  But let me tell you about the two ladies next to me.  I couldn't believe it.  In all seriousness, they had no idea what was going on after this.  They thought that since Stewart wasn't racing, the race wouldn't happen.  They were wondering why there was no restart, no waiting for him, no nothing.  Full believers that SX was the Bubba Show.  The tone in their voices, extremely confused about what was going on.  With Reed, Canard, and Dungey upfront I heard one of them say in an annoyed tone; "Ok so who are these guys out there now, whats going on?".  Are you kidding me?  It blows my mind at how clueless some people are at these races, especially to this level where the two ladies thought the race could only happen if Stewy's in it.  This isn't WWF, it's not staged.
