Rallying The Troops

Best Blogger Tips

This video was cool.  And I'm not talking about the final product, I'm talking about everything that went into making it.  I'd seen the contest and thought to myself, "Oh thats cool, gonna have some sick videos to watch as that goes on".  I didn't even consider myself doing it.  I had a few friends read about the contest and they started sending me the links, telling me to enter.  I decided to give it a shot. My goal was to make the top eight (the videos were narrowed down to 8 before the public voting started).  I wanted to get the track some exposure, and thought it'd be cool to have a video on such a big website.

The picture above is my buddy Mike Moore.  The video wouldn't have been half as good had he not helped out.  In fact, it wouldn't have even been made.  He was able to get us the cameras, dolly, and crane.  After I found this out, I was set to go.  Mike did an awesome job getting real creative shots using the dolly and crane.  I don't know if you guys notice when you watched the video, but there are some angles that you can't normally get.  Mike was totally fine with being lifted in the bucket to get new angles.  Normally for myself, filming is a one man job and I just run around getting what ever shots I think are cool.  But this was a project, and it was definitely cool working with some one who knew as much as he does.

It was only about 2 or 3 weeks before the submission deadline that I decided to make a video, and knew I was gonna want some pretty fast riders with good style for this.  I started texting some friends around the area.  Drew Torrance was obviously getting a call, along with Jake Abbott and Jimmy Decotis.  I lucked out when Jimmy said that both Mike Picone (who used to live in Mass) and Tommy Weeck were staying with him.  Eli Moore and Brenden Keene showed up pretty early with Mike so we could get the cameras ready to go.  Then all of the sudden, the fun mover came flying in off route 202.  Abbot and Jim and all them hop out ready to go with a ton of energy and checked out the track real quick.  I had groomed the track up nice and they were out riding within a matter of minutes.   It was pretty cool to watch seven of the fastest guys around have the track to themselves.  I was pumped that everything went as well as it did and the day turned out so good.  It was definitely fun, I don't think the video hides it:
