We were spoiled with good weather last year when March felt like May. But this year has been the total opposite and it definitely didn't help for this past Sunday's NESC race here at MX-207. The expected rain on Saturday never came and so it seemed that maybe the forecast was going to be wrong, although it wasn't. Which was unfortunate because the track looked mint.As a track owner, you hate to see rain in the forecast. Because whether it rains or not, the turn out isn't going to be great. Come Sunday morning, the track didn't look too bad and we got a few hours in with only a mist before it began to rain. Those who attended seemed to have had a pretty good time and the mud made for some good racing.
It wasn't until the second half was about to begin that the rain arrived. Some people were requesting that the second half be cancelled, some people were concerned the second half would be cancelled. You can see how this could be a problem. And so to attempt at pleasing the greater amount of people, the racers were able to vote what they wanted to do. The vote to cancel the second half won, but it was a lot closer than I'd expected it to be. But then again, I am a terrible mud rider. With that being said, running around with the camera in the morning didn't seem too bad. I got a few shots before the real rain came and was able to put this together:
